This year’s VMA nominees for Best Female Video were packed with pop heavyweights who’ve all been up for the award at least once in the past: Adele, Sia, Ariana Grande, Rihanna… and the killer queen herself, Beyonce.
After sucking the life out of us with her intense performance earlier in the evening, Bey returned to the VMA stage to collect her Moonman for “Hold Up” (you know, the one with the baseball bat and the now-iconic mustard-colored gown). She kept it short but sweet, giving a warm “thank you” to director Jonas Akerlund, to MTV, and to her legions of adoring fans.
Beyonce is now tied with Madonna and Taylor Swift for the most wins in the Best Female Video category — each of them now have three (Bey previously won for “Crazy In Love” and “Naughty Girl”).
Though this was the first time the Lemonade singer accepted a VMA onstage tonight, she’s already won four other awards tonight thus far: Breakthrough Long Form Video, Best Choreography, Best Cinematography, and Best Editing.
