The MTV Video Music Awards will invade New York in just three short days (do NOT miss it!), and a bunch of your favourite actors and personalities from this network are set to attend the annual extravaganza.

But this is hardly the first time familiar faces from the channel have appeared at Big Apple-based shows. From Snooki & JWOWW to the ladies who ruled the Hills and of course multiple Real World casts (baby Johnny Bananas and CT!), one of music’s biggest nights has featured some of our finest stars.

Check out retro photographs from the 2013, 2009, 2006, 2003 and 2002 instalments below (they’re featured from most recent to oldest), and be sure to catch the VMAs this Sunday at 9/6p.

Holland Roden

The lovable Teen Wolf banshee looked ready to scream and cheer for the night’s honourees at Barclays Center.

Crystal Reed

No archery items at this shindig for the woman behind Alison Argent.

Nicole Polizzi and Jionni LaValle

Snooki and her then-fiancé had a parents-only date at the soiree.

Jenni Farley and Roger Mathews

The couple opted for a glam look at their second VMAs appearance.

Ronnie Magro and Sammi Giancola

This is the complete opposite of a Jersey Shore Ronapocalypse — and SamRon could not have looked any happier posing for photographers.

Diem Brown

The late Challenge star struck a fierce pose.

Jordan Wiseley, Cara Maria Sorbello, Paula Beckert, Camila Nakagawa, Aneesa Ferreira and Preston Charles

These rivals played nice with each other as they made their way inside the venue.

Carly Aquilino

The Girl Code comedian (remember those fiery red locks?) bonded with some adoring fans.

Jillian Rose Reed

The Awkward starlet ditched her cheer uniform for more formal attire.

Molly Tarlov

Sadita was looking gooooooood (you’re welcome, Molly!)

Nikki DeLoach

Palos Hills’ quirky mama was about to become a parent IRL.

Lauren Conrad

The Laguna Beach native bonded with the one and only Moonman at Radio City Music Hall.

Stephanie Pratt, Holly Montag and Stacie Hall

The trio left the Tinseltown drama behind and opted for a bit of fun in the Empire State.

Kristin Cavallari

The bitch was back (at the extravaganza)!

Whitney Port

The recent City export was soaking up those bright lights, warm nights.

Janelle Casanave, Paula Beckert, Svetlana Shusterman, John Devenanzio, Tyler Duckworth and Zach Mann from Real World: Key West

A far cry from the Florida beaches, but probably just as enjoyable.

Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey

The Newlyweds (during much happier times) took in all of the action from some prime seats (probably without any Chicken of the Sea).

Adam King, Ace Amerson, Simon Sherry-Wood, Leah Gillingwater, Mallory Snyder, Christina Trainor and Chris “CT” Tamburello from¬†Real World: Paris

Quite a 180 from the City of Lights — but mostly likely just as fabuleux.

Kelly Osbourne

The Prince of Darkness’ daughter wasn’t with her famous family — but held her own solo.

Paris Hilton

Pre-Paris Hilton’s My New BFF days, the reality TV pioneer was totally at ease in front of the flashing bulbs.

Brynn Smith, Stephen Hill, Frank Roessler, Trishelle Cannatella, Alton Williams and Irulan Wilson from Real World: Las Vegas

This might have trumped a night at Rain — amiright, gang?

Carson Daly

The Total Request Live frontman left his comfort zone of Times Square for the iconic Rockefeller Center location.

Xzibit

Taking a much needed break from Pimp my Ride — but we’re willing to bet the rapper showed up to the VMAs in a decked-out vehicle.

Kyle Brandt, Lori Trespicio and Aneesa Ferreira from Real World: Chicago and Real World: Back to New York

Those blue contacts!

Tune in to the 2016 VMAs, live from New York on Sunday, August 28, at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
